Krishna says to Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita, "You have a right to perform your prescribed duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of action." What it means is "Do what calls to you, do your duty, and keep your eyes off the outcome. If you just focus on the outcome and risk losing sight of your duty and your desires, you may start to think it's all about you and all up to you, which it certainly isn't. This is an illusion that we humans love to create.
Humans tend to measure their success by the result of their efforts. If the outcome is in our favour, all is well and life is great. But, if it is not, does that mean life is awful? Success happens when you simply do your best and forget the rest. Your success isn't measured by where you end up but how much you value the experience of getting there. There is happiness not only in achieving the desired result but it can also be found during the process of gaining that outcome. The journey itself can teach you about yourself and provide some new insight to you. Take it one day at a time and live in the moment. Make the best of the moment by giving it your all. When you focus more on the results instead of the actions, you get more frustrated when things don't go your way. Shifting your focus to doing your best just for that day will find you making more progress on your goals. Great results come from great actions. Put your energy in just doing the work in front of you and results will follow. Ask yourself every day, "How can I do my best today?" to be successful in life.
