LIVE YOUR LIFE FULLY NOW

The majority of people are like automated machines nowadays. It seems as if they are living their lives in a trance – numb sleepwalkers that do the same things day in and day out – while being stuck in various routines that have accumulated during the years. There is no variety other than the regularly changing television program, new computer and console games or the newest scandals of celebrities and politicians. People have no time anymore to call their friends and to spend time with them, but waste hours of their valuable time online, on Facebook – checking status messages, addictively playing games, chatting with random strangers or watching videos on YouTube. But the burden of being a sleepwalker, an outsider to the true happiness in life is you won’t reach true fulfilment and consciousness; to put it simply: you aren’t able to fill the emptiness within yourself.Philosopher Alan Watts made a great message that resonated with people throughout the world. Part of what he said he is given below:

Suddenly when you are about forty or forty-five years old, in the middle life, you wake up one day and say. "Huh? I've arrived, and by joe, I feel pretty much the same as I've always felt. In fact I'm not so sure that I don't feel a little bit cheated." Because you see you were fooled. You were always living for somewhere where you aren't.

And while, as I said, it is of tremendous use for us, to be able look ahead in this way and to plan.

There is no use planning for a future which when you get to it and it becomes a present, you won't be there. You'll be living in some other future which hasn't yet arrived. And so in this way, one is never able actually to inherit and enjoy the fruits of ones actions.

You can't live at all…Unless you can live fully, Now.

It offers a very powerful message of living in the now; about how we're so often programmed in society to look to goals and aspirations ahead of us; so much so, we don't actually live in the moment, and what's worse, we don't fully engage with the moment. Only when someone is completely and utterly in the moment will it be successful and fulfilling. What good is it to work your ass off for 20+ years and miss out on your best years and everything the world has to offer you. There is a balance and you must find it and strive to live fully now.
