What would life be like if we stopped caring what everyone thinks and did what we desired? It will definitely make us happier and we would take more risks which would result in more chances of success. Fear of rejection is the most common fear of them all. We cannot escape the feeling but we should learn to manage it. We cannot let this fear guide our life. We have probably let it stop us from doing so many things, which might have given out positive results. In fact, there is an equal chance of succeeding as there is of failure. What would happen if we get rejected? We'd have to try again? Why is that such a bad thing? We should not let this stop us from trying out new things. Here are some of the ways that can help overcoming this fear of rejection.
Use your imagination constructively- Don't dwell on things out of your control. Don't let your imagination run wild. Try being positive. Don't look at the half empty glass. Try picturing yourself achieving your desired results. Work hard enough so that you leave no option for the failure.
Improve your self confidence - Look at the things you can do well enough. Get more advanced in them. The other things can be learnt along the way. Try some motivational sessions or being around people who motivate you. We tend to behave in accordance with our own self image. Affirmations are positive and uplifting statements that we say to ourselves.
Improve your self esteem - Visualize yourself as you want to be. When we have a low self esteem, we have low self esteem; we have a poor perception of ourselves that is often inaccurate. Practice visualizing a fantastic version of yourself, achieving your goals. We tend to believe whatever we tell ourselves constantly.
Look at rejection as an opportunity- rejection doesn't have to be feared, we can transform them into opportunity. If there is a solid foundation of optimism for the present and the future, it is hard for rejection to enter your positive force field. Utilize the energy provided to you by rejection and re-cycle it into positive energy. Think of rejection as free education. Learn from it about the things you need to change. And improve.
Don't be afraid of trying-It is better to try and fail, then to never try at all. How else can you know what you are capable of if you don't try? Trying new things is a requirement too. It avoids the monotony in life. You may fail but its okay. There are many more things to try/ Try the 100 days of rejection challenge - Jia Jiang has become famous for recording his experience of "bursting fear" by purposefully making crazy requests of people in order to be rejected over 100 days. His purpose was to desensitize himself to rejection. Doing this isn't easy to do, but if you want to have fun while building your self-confidence, this is a powerful way to do it.
