BE PROACTIVE

Proactive is a person or an action, creating or controlling the situation rather than just responding to it after it has happened. The prefix for the word 'pro' which means before and 'active' which means doing something. When you are proactive, you are ready before something happens. The opposite is being reactive, where you act only after something happens. In today's modern world, a proactive approach is all it requires to climb up the ladder. Proactive people control situations by causing things to happen rather than waiting to respond after things happen. People who are proactive don't sit around waiting for answers to appear; they stand up, put one foot in front of the other, and find the answers. They don't wait for someone to hand them an instruction manual and a box of tools; they're resourceful. Obviously, there are situations where you are caught off guard and also when we need to be flexible and adapt to a rapidly changing environment. But mostly the best approach is being proactive. So let's get ready to become proactive.

In order to be proactive, you need to develop a foresight. Learn to anticipate problems and events. Know your surroundings and how things work. Use your creativity and logic and come up with multiple scenarios for how an event could unfold. Don't plan along the way. Think things thoroughly and start planning early. Plan the actions and the way to handle further consequences. Don't make decisions in a vacuum; every decision is a link in a chain of events leading to one final conclusion. Participate.

Don't be an inactive member, an idle observer. Get involved. Take initiative. Make a contribution towards things around you. Also, listen to others and take their ideas too. When you are reactive, you worry about things you can't change, and you struggle to resist failure. When you know how to be proactive, you realize when it's time to take a break or even call it quits, and you focus your time and energy on what you can influence and what is most important in the moment. The good thing is that knowing how to be proactive is a skill you can learn. All it takes is a simple mindset shift, noticing when you're being reactive and choosing to look at your situation in a proactive light. We all occasionally fall back into a reactive mindset, and learning how to be proactive simply entails noticing when we're being reactive, not getting down on ourselves about it, and choosing how to be more proactive in the present moment.
