Influence is the ability to have an effect on the character of someone or something. An influencer is a person who helps you grow and improve personally every day as well as professionally. We are heavily influenced by one another, what we read, what we learn and what we have experienced. Developmental psychologists say that our earliest and most lasting influences come from our families and caretakers. If we are fortunate to be raised by loving and attentive people, we inculcate those values and develop the capacity for connection and intimate attachments, and we construct psychological defenses of protection against outside negative influences. Teachers and neighbors also influence our self-concepts. In adolescence we are very much influenced by our peers. Everyone wants to be a part of the "in-group," accepted and admired. Looking back, which group did you aspire to - the nerds, the trobule makers, the queens? And how long did it take to get over their influence? Or have you?
One of the most important choices we make is what we allow to influence us. Our major influences are whatever or whoever we spend the most time with. Whether we're aware of it or not, we're influenced by what and who we listen to. There is always a time in life, when a hero comes along, someone who has inspired and taught you things about life. It can be anyone, a family member, a teacher, your peers, or even someone who you did not think could teach you a lesson in life. So the important thing to keep in mind is who leads you, what are you reading, watching and thinking. If you do not choose the positive you will be surrounded by negative.
Sit back and think, who do you consider as influence in your life. Is it a good or bad influence? If you are looking for an influencer, look for someone who is humble and grateful, someone with strong values and well mannered. A good influencer will support others and will be ready to help. One of the most important things that you should get from a real influencer is the opportunity to learn from them.
Keep in mind that as much as you get influenced by others, at the same time you can be influencing someone.
